The Helena Mt. Temple was the first temple the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints selected to be constructed using a process known as Design Manufacture Install or DMI. The challenge of this project was to achieve the high standards of quality found in all LDS temples but to do this in a factory and ship the modules to the site. On-site the modules were stitched together, and the cladding and tower were then applied. The Helena Temple was derived from the temple plan developed for Phnom Penh Cambodia and was adapted to be modularized and built in a factory. Design inspiration pulls from regional Native American and environmental influences given the geographical significance of the site.
